Alertie-Light Pink, Very Productive Early Blooming Peony- 3/5 Eye Roots *Now Shipping*

$19.95

This is a double peony variety with flowers varying from a subtle pink to nearly white color. It is an early blooming, extremely productive heirloom variety, first bred sometime around 1867. The flowers have a slight minty fragrance. Peonies require good drainage to prevent root rot but can be planted in amended clay soils. Water requirements are moderate.

Alertie

Height: 32" tall

Originally bred as early as 1867

Perennial

About these roots: these roots are 3/5 eye and most will bloom in year 2 after planting. We encourage you to plant these roots in the Fall when your ground is workable and barely cover the eyes (an inch of soil above the eye is good). If the ship date is after your ground freezes, they can be planted in large pots for the first year and planted next fall after foliage has died back. The bigger the pot, the better.

Ships as a bare root in early November.
