This is a semi-double lemon yellow peony that is a cross between a tree peony and an herbaceous peony. They have a light lemony fragrance and are considered a more advanced variety to grow. Peonies require good drainage to prevent root rot but can be planted in amended clay soils. Water requirements are moderate.

About these roots: these are 3/5 eye roots. We encourage you to plant these roots in the Fall when your ground is workable and barely cover the eyes (an inch of soil above the eye is good). If the ship date is after your ground freezes, they can be planted in large pots for the first year and planted next fall after foliage has died back. The bigger the pot, the better.
